Father’s Day is in just two weeks and what’s a better way to get to your father’s heart than through food? And not just food…
CAKE!
When I was a kid, my mom made a cake for my dad and decorated it to look like a sweater vest and tie with M&Ms. Well I wanted to recreate this idea for my husband, but modernize it a little and went with a bow tie and suspenders. 🙂
All you have to do is make your dad’s/husband’s favorite cake and frost it with vanilla frosting. Make sure you check out this yummy homemade frosting recipe! Then buy a bag of M&Ms and pull out one color for the bow tie and another for the suspenders.
To make the bow tie I started with a 3×3 square. Then I went up three, down five, and back three to the main square and then filled it in with more M&Ms. Then I repeated on the other side to finish the bow tie.
For the suspenders, just do two rows of M&Ms from the top of the cake to the bottom on both sides. And then add three brown M&Ms for buttons.
He is going to love it!
