Very disorganized, but also very interesting. Probably great for people who want an unfiltered look into a cold case -- rather than just the most interesting points and an organized narrative, you get EVERYTHING.

The story is compelling - it describes so much evil, individually imposed on Lyn, and widespread throughout school culture - and so many were obviously complicit in both! From individuals to institutions, there's no excuse for the enabling and ignoring of Chris Dawson's behavior. But the podcast is hours and hours too long. The repetition was beyond frustrating, it became monotonous with the narration a dirge at a funeral that felt like it would never end. And so many aspects were like a skipping record - with people saying over and over that "she'd never have left her girls" the poignancy was lost, it like pure padding. Podcasts are still evolving, I know, but they need 3rd party editors to clean them up. A Russian novel would have gone faster and covered more territory.

If you want to become completely engulfed a true crime case this is the podcast for you. This very extensive investigation into the disappearance and probable murder of Lyn Dawson in Sydney, Australia is thorough, thoughtful, professional and heartbreaking. Hedley Thomas is a wonderful host that appeared to treat Lyn's family with upmost respect during the duration of the podcast. I'm really glad that the popularity of this podcast has somewhat helped gain momentum within this 38 year old case. The only minor downside of this podcast is the how in-depth it is; no stone goes unturned! This can made it a bit of a drag at times, and quite repetitive. Regardless, this is a very well produced podcast that definitely deserved the hype. I sincerely hope justice can be served for Lyn & her family.

As a Northern Beaches girl growing up just after Lyns generation I found this podcast fascinating and a very good representation of the culture of the NB some years ago now! My husband went to Cromer High and his quite a bit older sister also went to Cromer high and experienced a lot of similar issues and this was a decade orMore after this case occurred! Hedley Thomas did an amazing job of this podcast and has brought forward justice for Lyn and her family!

A horrific story of white male privilege in Australia. A teacher becomes involved with a High School student, takes advantage of her sexually and emotionally and needs to be rid of his wife. This 30 year old case is brilliantly investigated and reported with great skill. Fascinating, well researched and infuriating, this podcast will make you want to binge it.

I think if I had been listening to this as it aired, I would have found this more interesting. Because people were responding to the episodes and calling in to provide more information, the episodes end up being disorganized. Much of the information is repeated 2 or 3 times unnecessarily. Many people brought on to provide commentary were pretty far removed from the events, but again I understand that this was happening live. My biggest complaint is how long the episodes are. But overall a great podcast and I'm really glad that this podcast helped to get justice for Lynn.

The Teacher's Pet probably sets the standard for long-form investigative podcasting in the true crime space. Hedley's work, along with the rest of his team, is in-depth, relevant and interesting.

I have to say I was a late listener to this podcast. It didn't disappoint. This is definitely Australia's Serial podcast. The amount of dirt that comes out about not Chris Dawson and his brother but the perverted stuff going on at the school they both taught at is appalling. NSW police not the best police force at solving crimes as I've come to notice over the past year. This is a great serial podcast. It's got a lot of episode's also. You won't be able to listen in Australia due to an upcoming trial. Highly recommended

The series is about 10 episodes too long, I really enjoyed the first 4-5 episodes but am finding myself increasingly frustrated at listening to the same thing being repeated over and over again in the next 5, I’m currently at episode 11 and am considering just skipping the next 4 to get to the end.

I thought I found one of the best crime stories there are, Australian accent and ambience was obviously a huge plus, but it dragged on and on with unnecessary repetitions to the point I just wanted to DNF it. would have been a 3 star if not for the pleasurable time I had at the start and throughout

The story itself is super interesting and developing still today. But the narrative was repetitive, boring, and nothing that I couldn't have looked up myself.

Made me feel dirty while listening.

I’m so depressed. This has given me an escape. His voice is so soothing. He gives compassion and understanding to people that he interviews. Even people other podcasts would have righteously been combative or aggressive with. This includes people meant to protect youths saying well what was I supposed to do. There’s so many instances he could be unkind and he just listens and presents. I really enjoy this type of reporting. I could listen to his soothing, kind voice 24/7. Lord knows I could use that much escape. Wonderfully done. Thank you.

A very compelling story. Sometimes feels like it's trying to push a narrative a bit hard (e.g. being pretty sure someone did something =/= being sure beyond reasonable doubt =/= being sure someone would be convicted in court, and these different concepts are often conflated).

I thought I'd discovered one of the finest crime podcasts out there, with a great vibe to boot, but it dragged on a bit. Would have been a three star if it hadn't been for the really strong start.
