S-Town is epic.No matter where I was listening I was transported to Alabama amongst the tree's and the s**t.Could not stop listening to this twisted tale.Highly recommend to anyone.Enjoy.
Compelling, but unknown why it was made. Seems too probing and weird of a deep dive into a sick man's life.
This podcast started out good bro, but then it gets weird and ends weird bro.
A challenging and rewarding podcast. Try to learn as little as you can about the events described in it, because you should let this unfold as it does without knowing in advance what's coming. Is it perfect? Are there questions to be asked about how it was told? Yes, but that doesn't change the deeply moving nature of the questions asked and answered within it. Few podcasts go this deep.
SPOILERS: This podcast is a complete bait and switch. If you are interested in a deep dive into the strange life of a disturbed but brilliant southern man, then go ahead and listen. If you were looking for an investigation into murder and cover-up, you will be sorely disappointed by the end of the second episode. The producers of the TAL should be ashamed of themselves for how they exploited the main character of this story.
If you are from the south (or Alabama in particular) and sort of stuck out for being weird or eccentric then you will really identify with this incredible story.
What an amazingly good podcast. John b is an enigmatic character with an astonishing talent and mind. well worth a listen.
Damn fine storytelling.
This was one of the most captivating podcasts I've listened to in a while. Couldn't stop listening to is.
I've been wanting to listen to this podcast for a while now and finally had the chance. It's hard to see what it's going to become based on how it starts, but after sticking with it I enjoyed the ride it took me on, through Shit Town and its inhabitants, and the ups and downs in the life of the main subject. Definitely worth a listen!
Amazing. Heartbreaking. Deep.Listen to it.
I wish I could discover it all over again. One of the best audio experiences of all time.Nuts.Gut wrenching.Human.Revealing.Sad.Beautiful.Enough about me, the podcast is great - set aside time to leave your body and enter an amazing journey to the heart of John. This is epic, listen or die never having really taken in a true gasp of shock.
Ok, I loved this podcast. It was weird, wacky and unbelievable in places, but it gripped me and I binged it in no time. Worth a listen, for sure.
I don't want to comment on the content of this podcast for fear of spoiling it, but it is the only podcast I've ever listened to twice (a testament to how good it is), and I picked up on so many things in my second listen that I didn't pick up in my first listen. This podcast is incredibly well-made.
Nothing else quite like it.
Amazingly interesting personalities. This podcast is like a good book that with characters and a setting that seem almost surreally weird.
This show was fantastic to me. I loved the southern-ness of it and was able to really visualize it. While I was sad to see the story take the turn that it did, I'm glad we were able to hear the story. A must listen.
This podcast tried to benefit from the popularity of Serial. I liked Serial, so I listened to S-Town. But somehow the scuttlebutt of a small town—and the ramblings of one eccentric man living in it—just weren't that compelling to me. It comes down to the social ramifications of the two podcasts. Serial focused on one case, but was ultimately about the flaws in our justice system. S-Town focused on one case, but there were no reflected issues in larger society to lend that case any deeper meaning.
Compelling. Heartbreaking. The one podcast who's story I almost know by heart. This podcast isn't for those who like to multitask since it requires your attention.
my first podcast and still my favorite!
