Bob Dylan once said, "Life is Sad, Life is a bust/All you can do is do what you must". We believe that sentiment is true at one time or another for all of us, but as a society we don't always share the feelings, thoughts and actions that accompany these moments. Sad Times has a guest each episode and we talk with him or her about how sadness manifests within him or her; what type of behavior that may surface as a result from being sad. It is my firm belief that if we could just talk a bit more about these things, we might be able to better understand each other, and perhaps feel more content in day to day life. | 7 Ratings

I grew up straddling two cultures and this sparked my curiosity for more. In fact, I've spent the majority of my adult life living outside my passport country and loving it. I want to know the nuances of places and people, so that's why I'm having these recorded conversations with folks who live in different places about their experiences AND what has grounded them while adjusting to a new culture. | 7 Ratings

Servus, Kıvanç Önder’in konuklu ve uzun format söyleşi podcasti... | 7 Ratings

FICTIONThere’s the family you grew up with: your mom, your dad, your siblings. And then, there’s the family you carry around in your head for the rest of your life. This show is about that second family, the one that lives within. From Mermaid Palace, Sharon Mashihi brings you Appearances, a one woman audio show that straddles the line between fiction and truth. Appearances brings to life an Iranian American family and community through the real and fantastical mental machinations of Melanie Barzadeh. MUSICAL THEATRE HAS NEVER BEEN BIGGER. WITH BROADWAY'S 2017 BOX OFFICE SURPASSING $1.5 BILLION FOR THE FIRST TIME (HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) AND AWARD-WINNING FILM PHENOMENA LIKE FROZEN, GREATEST SHOWMAN, AND LA LA LAND - THE WORLD IS RUSHING TO SEATS AROUND THE GLOBE TO RAISE IT'S JAZZ HANDS AND SING 'HOW DO WE SOLVE A PROBLEM LIKE MARIA!?' Yet at a closer glance only 5% of the shows created are responsible for the high grossing revenue - the remainder close early, out of town or in the case for most original musicals in Australia, wander aimlessly through the Outback desert waiting to be discovered. The early composers almost single-handedly opened the door for tin pan alley and the evolution of popular music. It’s responsible for giving us household names like Bette. Audra. Patti. Mandy. Sondheim. Lloyd-Webber. What can composers do today to find similar success and how has the industry changed? Making a Musical will ask questions and try to understand why people love musicals; What is about them that has people travel all around the world to see them? In this exploration of The Great American Art Form, BRADLEY MCCAW (Award-winning writer/performer/ lecturer) travels to New York (USA), London (UK), TBC (Japan) and Melbourne (Australia) to ask Industry greats first hand - what does it actually take to make a great musical. He will sit with those who are at the forefront of making musicals, try to unpack how the industry works here in Australia and abroad and figure out why we can't make musicals like other places in the world. What don't we have - that they have in NYC, London, and Asia? | 6 Ratings
